A little humor and humility go a long way in making a great developer, consultant, and teammate.
We offer:

Many of our current solutions utilize WPF or Silverlight and the user interface/experience development in XAML is a key component of what we do. While our positions are not for people who are strictly graphic designers, prior XAML experience or an aptitude and interest in UI design will definitely be considered a plus.
We realize not every developer has X years of experience with Y technology and that, given the right opportunity in the right environment, great developers can quickly learn and adapt to any technology and still deliver great solutions. These are the passionate people we are hoping to find.
If you think the above describes what you have been looking for, please send information on yourself and a current resume to Kevin Grossnicklaus at kvgros@architectnow.net. We have a number of positions available immediately including both salaried and hourly roles.

Junior .NET Developer |

Our client has embarked on a new strategic initiative to make data available to users in a “self service” model. The intent is to build the interfaces necessary to pull data from a variety of existing databases, aggregate it in a centralized data repository, sort it, and make it easily accessible to IDOT personnel for query, reporting, and map display applications. Once fully implemented, they will be able to rely on a standardized repository of enterprise data. The source databases, which include several legacy systems, will continue exist to serve the data processing and/or data reporting needs of the business interests they were designed to serve.
The client is undertaking this initiative in an effort to improve our efficiency and accountability.
The Department has created several initial enterprise data marts including Construction, Financial, and Safety. The data marts are built on Microsoft SQL Server 2005 (Database, Reporting Services, and Analysis Services). The Department has implemented business user access to the data utilizing MOSS 2007, Performance Point/ProClarity, and Excel 2007 including an Excel application that integrates with a GIS map component built within the Excel UI.
The Human Resource Data Mart project will provide the Agency with direct, easy access to employee and position information. This information, within required security constraints, can in turn be used in a flexible manner to generate reports, provide ad-hoc reporting options, provide ability for in-depth analysis and also be available to key staff within various business units. Developing a single source of information will allow business users to focus on data analysis rather than data compiling, resulting in a more timely, consistent and efficient process. The implementation of scorecards and key performance indicators (KPI) will provide enhanced accountability across the organization. The improved access for business users to this information will allow IT staff to focus efforts on system enhancements and reduce support requests for the creation of reports.
This position performs difficult and specialized professional work in all areas of mainframe, client/server and/or Internet application development; work is non-routine in that general policies or procedures must be adapted or applied and new methods devised to meet frequently changing or new situations. Typically, the objectives to be achieved are set forth and the results produced are expected to achieve the objectives within the framework of established policies and procedures. Positions work under indirect supervision in the performance of the majority of duties; decisions made are in accordance with general instructions, established methods and clearly defined precedents, with unusual problems referred to higher-level professionals. Typical examples of work include: (1) Performs as individual or lead programmer for a system or subsystem, coordinates the analytical and programming functions required to develop, adapt, convert or maintain applications; coordinates programming activities with systems analysts and other development staff; directs and conducts the preparation, review and revision of program code, objects, properties and methods. (2) Performs analysis and evaluation of legacy systems database and program logic; interviews and consults with stakeholders concerning desirable changes and performs comprehensive studies and analysis of stakeholder needs and objectives; identifies procedures and techniques to develop new systems or convert or improve existing systems; (3) Following approved methodologies, develops detailed systems designs, definitions, flowcharts, and procedures; develops and applies cross-checks and auditing procedures to assure accuracy and reliable practices; determines and corrects deviations from specifications for complex n-tier, object oriented applications. (4) Performs program coding, testing and implementation activities using specified development languages and technologies; may coordinate program changes with stakeholders. (5) Designs and implements data conversion programs and procedures and develops and implements testing plans, programs and procedures. Education, Experience and Skills: This position requires a bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Management Information Systems or related fields (or equivalent knowledge, skill, experience and mental development) and three or more years of progressive responsibility and experience in application design and development with an emphasis on mainframe, object oriented client server and/or web application development with recent experience in the specified technologies; extensive knowledge of Information Technology concepts and principles, the theories and functions of computer systems; the principles and techniques of n-Tier, object oriented development; a working knowledge of the methods, procedures and techniques of conducting feasibility studies for system conversions and enhancements; the ability to analyze data logically and exercise sound judgment in defining and evaluating problems of an operational or procedural nature; the ability to gain and maintain effective working relationships with associates, vendors, clients, and others; and developed oral and written communication skills to present technical information to others with clarity and precision. We are looking for a well rounded .NET developer to help our small internet company. We are a family run business that is growing more and more each year. We run a very large web site for estate sale companies and estate sale "goers" In addition to adding new features to our current site, we have several other web sites that need to be designed and developed.
This job will give lots of experience with the many aspects of running a large web site. A lot of attention will need to be paid to SQL and ways to improve the performance of the database. Experience developing for a large web site is desired but not required. Experience writing and tuning SQL queries is required. Experience writing web apps is required.
The ideal candidate should have the following skillset:
- C# - VB.NET - ASP.NET - SQL - HTML/CSS - Javascript
That's it! The only reason VB.NET is listed is because we have some old code in VB.NET that will at some point be rewritten into C#. All development is done in C# so a strong background with C# is greatly desired.
Our goal is to make this a job that you brag about to your family and friends. We have realistic goals and we take your estimates to make our timelines. This is NOT a high stress work environment. All we expect is top notch work from someone friendly. :)
